ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Tim Hodges

WHERE I COME FROM

Originally, I'm from Florida.  My journey to Millsboro, my wife Elizabeth's hometown, began over 30 years ago when I met her in college.  We have been blessed to raise our 4 children here.  I believe Millsboro is a great place to live, work, shop and dine.  I enjoy serving other people, and I am running for town council to give back to the community that gave so much to me first.

A THRIVING CAREER

After college, I had a short but successful career in the rapidly growing computer industry before moving to Millsboro. Since then, I have used my engineering education in the construction industry to provide homes and businesses in the area. During this time, I learned Millsboro's unique place in Delaware.  Millsboro is a great place to live, not only because of it's great location, but also due to the decisions that were made by past councils that allowed the town to have water, sewer and a police department.  Millsboro has flourished because of all these things.

MY SUCCESS ON COUNCIL

Council has accomplished much while I have had the honor to serve.  With a council of seven members, I have been able to use my business management skills to help provide fiscally responsible leadership for the town.  I have helped continue the leadership of past councils where Millsboro created our Water and Sewer systems in the 1960s. We have been able to make Millsboro a better place to live, such as renovating Town Hall and updating facilities, without 'breaking the bank'.  We have used impact fees, grants, low interest and principally forgiven loans to minimize rate increases to all town residents and businesses. Just last year the town was able to refinance debt and save over $2 million.

Healthcare options have increased with the addition of Tidal's Health Pavillion and an expansion of Beebe's Primary Care facility, Walk-in Clinic and Lab on DuPont Hwy and within their three-story building on Mitchell Street. Currently, we are working with both Tidal and Beebe healthcare systems to bring more medical services to Millsboro.  Each are in the process of designing and preparing to build hospital-esqe facilities in Millsboro to increase medical services to the Millsboro's residents.  This includes things like surgical centers, ambulatory services, specialty physicians and more.

My vision for Millsboro's future medical care is an emergency room, senior care, memory care, and mental health facilities.  As this area continues to grow, Millsboro will also be the ideal location for the next hospital and other medical-related business, both directly and indirectly, supporting medical care.

Town staff does a great job providing services in town hall, at the water & wastewater facilities and through the police department. I am proud to work with each of them to make Millsboro the best town we can be.

CONCERNS

I believe transparency is important in government.  I also believe government's responsibility is to provide good structure for community businesses and residents to thrive.  Over the last 15 years, Millsboro has typically seen 130-180 voters turn out for municipal elections.  Why did only 39 voters come out to Town Hall last year? I believe it was because of COVID-19, plain and simple.

Millsboro Council holds public meetings that are open to the residents unless they have to do with individual personnel issues, or legal matters. Agendas are posted in advance and minutes are available on the town website.  Election announcements are advertised in the newspaper, the Town website, and publicly posted at town hall, the post office and the library annually, on a regular schedule prior to elections.  This process has obviously been successful for many years, but I am open to listening to new ideas and making changes to get the information out in the future.

THOUGHTS FOR THE FUTURE-SMART GROWTH

I enjoy talking to residents and learning their perspective of the town. We have many new residents and many who have lived here for years and raised their families here. There are many points of view, but I believe each of them share my love of Millsboro, a great place for all ages - whether just starting out, raising a family or relaxing and enjoying the golden years.

If I am re-elected to town council, I want to continue improving services, working on the personnel committee and helping town staff provide services and grow in their careers.  I want to continue working with residents and businesses to make Millsboro the BEST SMALL TOWN IN DELAWARE.  I want to help the new healthcare centers come to fruition and help the new water and wastewater treatment facilities through the design and construction phases.

I believe Millsboro will continue to grow no matter who is on Council. What is important is HOW Millsboro grows. Millsboro needs smart growth, not just any growth.  I want to help Millsboro with smart growth...lets grow smart together!

With my leadership, I BELIEVE MILLSBORO'S BEST DAYS ARE YET TO COME !
